Contemporary Modern 1/2

Modern dance encompasses a vast scope of movement styles and can often be synonymous with Contemporary Dance. This class is a foundational introduction to some of the leading techniques: Graham, Horton, and Contact-Release.  Exposure to modern dance is essential for the versatile dancer. It increases freedom of expression through improvisational techniques. Dancers will build strength, fluidity, and body awareness as they learn proper weight placement, alignment, and where to initiate different movement. Modern dance is a genre that is both physically challenging and incredibly rewarding. It encourages expressiveness, creativity, and freedom for individuality.

Recommended for those in Ballet 3+ or after into to dance styles.

This class will participate in the all school recital "Finale" in June.
