EVENING & SATURDAY CLASSES

2024 FINE ARTS SESSIONS

Crochet: Amigurumi for Absolute Beginners

Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures. Growing in popularity, the creation of adorable stuffed toys using a hook and yarn is captivating people and rekindling love for an old form of textile making. In this course, you will learn how to crochet from the very beginning! We will show you how to hold your hook, cast on and start crocheting. Along the way we’ll teach you all the stitches and other techniques you’ll need to know to create your amigurumi. While we practice we will also be applying our new skills to other, smaller crochet projects. At the culmination of this course students will crochet, stuff and sew their own amigurumi and be equipped to take on their own crochet projects in the future.

Students will be provided with a 4mm crochet hook to take with them when they finish the class and all the materials to create the intermediate projects as well as their final amigurumi.
