Deeper Into Literature, Junior Book Club

I graduated from Central Methodist University with a BS in Child Development. I have minors in Accounting, Business Administration and Early care & Education. I have been the director and teacher of my bilingual program for 15 years in a small setting with young children. I have two daughters, who are Dayspring Alumni. They attended DaySpring from Kindergarten through high school with me as their at-home teacher. As a DaySpring family, we are very familiar with the DaySpring's teaching method, the materials, and the wonderful education that DaySpring offers.

April McCandless

American Girl History

Having begun her own theatrical training at Dayspring, April has a unique understanding of the program and how to help students achieve their full potential in a limited amount of time, all while passing on her love for theater to the next generation. With a BFA in Theater from Stephens College April has directed more than 30 musicals here at DaySpring. Some of her favorites include Finding Nemo (2024), Les Miserables (2021), Beauty and the Beast (2018), and Jane Eyre (2015).

Hello everyone! My name is Kasey Healy, and I am thrilled to be working at DaySpring this year. With over 25 years of teaching experience, I am passionate about creating engaging, hands-on learning opportunities for students.

I earned my teaching degree from the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) and later completed a Master’s Degree in Gifted Education. In addition to my work in the classroom, I’ve also had the privilege of contributing to Maryville University’s STEM program, where I continue to deepen my love for science, technology, engineering, and math. I am looking forward to a great year!

Spanish Adventure

My name is Kim Risch and this is my second year teaching at DaySpring.  Prior to this, I homeschooled my 4 kids for 20 years, some of them attended DaySpring as students, and one is now teaching here!  I took 4 years of Spanish in high school and loved it so much, I decided to continue to study it in college.  I have a BA in Spanish and spent 2 summers studying in Mexico.

Biztown

Hello! I am so excited to teach BizTown this year! I currently serve as the Arts Division Director at DaySpring and coordinate our Enrichment Program. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and minor in Political Science. At SEMO she served as President of University Dancers United and Senior Senator for the Holland College of Arts and Media. After graduation, I worked with COCAedu for a summer internship, learning about arts programming and outreach. Because of a passion for Arts Advocacy, I currently serve as a board member with Missouri Citizens for the Arts and plan their annual Advocacy Day Event. I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge of entrepreneurship, business, and leadership with the students!
