Performing Arts Taster
The perfect blend of musical theatre, circus, drama, mime and acting skills to wet the appetites of young students. They will be given the opportunity to explore several aspects of our performing arts program in one class throughout the year. This class will be fast paced and active in order to keep young minds engaged and learning. This is a great starting point for budding performers; they will have an introduction to the arts which will set them up to successfully participate in year-long classes in individual disciplines as they get older.
Musical Theatre Intro
An age appropriate introduction to the world of musical theatre for the budding performer in your family. Training in voice production and projection as well as movement, basic steps & stage presence with new and traditional theater music. This class will be involved in a Spring musical collaborating with another class.
Musical Theatre 1
This class gives fun foundational training in singing, acting, dancing and performance technique. Voice production and projection will be developed as well as movement, choreograph and stage presence with new & traditional musical theatre material. This class will begin by working on a musical in September, perform a piece in the Fall Showcase, and present their musical at the start of the new year. After the musical, class focus will shift to training in specific performance techniques such as audition preparation and solo/small group performance techniques with an in class presentation at the end of the year as well as performing a group number in “Finale” in June. Auditions will be held on the first day of class.
Musical Theatre 2
This class is a challenging and fun training ground for the young teen musical theatre performer at this sensitive time in their development. Students receive training in singing, acting, dancing and performance technique through working on traditional and modern musical theatre material. Work in voice production and projection, physicality, acting skills, choreography, stage presence and more will be addressed. This class will perform a musical in the early spring. *Students in the 14 year old transition year will be placed, after discussion between parents and teachers, in the class that best benefits the individual and the class as a whole.
Musical Theatre Techniques 2 is available as a second class by audition only for students enrolled in MT2.
Musical Theatre 3
This class is a focused training ground for the mid/late high school musical theatre performer ready to hone their skills. Students receive training in singing, acting, dancing and performance technique through working on traditional and modern musical theatre material. Work in voice production and projection, physicality, acting skills, choreography, stage presence and more will be addressed. No prerequisites required. *Students in the 14 year old transition year will be placed, after discussion between parents and teachers, in the class that best benefits the individual and the class as a whole.
This class will perform musical in the late spring.
Musical Theatre Techniques 3 is available as a second class, by audition only, for those who wish to further their training.
Musical Theatre Techniques
This class is a second class for serious musical theater students who would like to be challenged with individualized training in solos and small groups with vocal & dramatic emphasis and the potential for more performance opportunities. Students in this class are expected to work on assignments at home each week. Class enrollment is determined by audition or invitation only and class size is limited to 12 students. Students must also be enrolled in MT2 or MT3. Please contact the office if your student would like to audition for this class. The price is already discounted and isn’t included in the multi class discount.
