Half-Day Camps

DaySpring Children’s Choir Camp: A Juneteenth Outreach
Ages 8-13

Join our Children’s Choir (ages 8–13) for a powerful week of music, learning, and community impact! Students will explore the history and significance of Juneteenth through age-appropriate discussion and engaging musical selections rooted in African American choral traditions. They will develop group vocal skills, master techniques like breath control and pitch accuracy, and work collaboratively on meaningful repertoire designed specifically for our Juneteenth outreach performance.

This unique camp invites young singers not only to grow as musicians, but also to celebrate diversity, reflect on freedom, and share messages of unity and hope with audiences beyond the DaySpring campus. It promises a transformative, joyful, and memorable experience your child will carry far beyond the stage.

Confidence at the Piano: From Practice to Performance
Ages 8+

Give your child the tools and confidence to shine at the piano this summer. This half-day intensive offers a warm, supportive, and non-critical learning environment where growth happens through encouragement, not pressure. Whether your pianist is preparing for the M.A.M.A. Festival competition or simply eager to deepen their love of music, this camp helps young musicians build skills through thoughtful and expressive musicianship. Students will receive individual coaching, participate in masterclasses, and take part in engaging workshops focused on technique, theory, score analysis, and expressive performance. Eurythmic movement and simple mindfulness activities help students connect their bodies with sound, manage performance anxiety, and develop healthy performance habits early.

Throughout the week, students learn how to bring their repertoire to life while practicing uplifting peer feedback and building confidence in front of others. The camp concludes with a mock adjudication, providing a positive, encouraging space to step onstage with assurance.

All levels are welcome—every child is supported, celebrated, and guided at their own pace. Students will leave inspired, motivated, and ready to take their playing to the next level.

Space is limited; early registration is recommended.

Upcycled Sound Sculptures Ensemble
Ages 9+

Students will transform cardboard and upcycled materials into innovative sound-producing sculptures. We will delve into the world of art sculptures and explore the fusion of art and music as you design, shape, and assemble unique pieces that amplify sound through various techniques, including resonance and vibration. Utilizing materials like rubber bands, bells, and beads, you'll craft and decorate your sound sculpture before testing its auditory potential by striking, plucking, or shaking. No experience is required—just a passion for creativity and collaboration! This camp is perfect for brave and curious young artists, musicians, and makers eager to cross disciplines and explore through sound and sculpture.

Pop Meets Classical: Chamber Music Camp
Ages 10+

Our Chamber Music Summer Camp offers young musicians a welcoming introduction to the excitement of playing in small ensembles—no screening or audition required. Following the format of last year’s Strings Chamber Music Camp, this year’s program adds a fun twist with an equal focus on pop music alongside traditional classical ensemble playing.

In this relaxed and supportive environment, students strengthen their musical skills while learning to listen, collaborate, and create with peers. Ideal for string and piano students ages 10–18 with at least two years of experience, this camp is perfect for young musicians eager to learn, connect, and grow together. Whether it’s your first time playing chamber music or you’re looking to expand your ensemble experience, this camp provides a joyful, fresh, and engaging opportunity to make music with others.
